The strategies and attitudes of diagramming, in practice, converge into the political question of “Who diagrams?” We believe the most direct way of creating a non-extractive diagram that embraces plural subjectivity is through fair distribution of the agency of diagramming among various bodies with heterogeneous knowledge and intentions. This is not a mere statement of openness, but a method that can only be maintained through continuous processes of facilitation.
This practice of collective diagramming can eventually mobilize shared speculation. Speculation in this context is far from neoliberal speculation only concerned with individual economic interest, hoping for profit and taking risk. Diagramming together means multiple carrier bags opening toward each other, providing comprehensive understandings of interrelatedness from which collectivized speculation emerges.
